John A. Zeeb

John A. Zeeb, age 63, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno, South Dakota.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2008, at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Michael Hecht officiating, and military honors provided by the Menno American Legion Post 152. Burial will be at a later date in the Edelman Cemetery in Menno. Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service are in charge of the arrangements.

John A. Zeeb was born January 13, 1945, to Gideon Peter "Pete" and Delphine (Edelman) Zeeb in Viborg, South Dakota. He grew up in the Scotland and Menno area and graduated from Menno High School in 1963. He entered the U.S. Air Force in August of 1936 and served in the Phillipines and Turkey until 1967. He returned to Yankton after the war and attended the University of South Dakota in Springfield, South Dakota graduating in 1971. He owned and operated Mr. Z's Quick Print and later went to work at The Bankcard Center for 20 years retiring in 2004 and moving to Menno. He married Linda Sue Heimes Mauch on February 14, 1992.

He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the Menno American Legion Post 152. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching TV, and helping with farm work for friends.

He is survived by his wife Linda Sue Zeeb of Menno; two children, Matthew Zeeb of Washington, PA and Rebecca Zeeb of Yankton; two step-sons, Jason (Judy) Mauch of Jacksonville, FL and Jim Mauch of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Emily, Brody, Sidney, and Ethan Mauch; one brother, Ken Zeeb of Menno; sister-in-law, Mary Gay (Harold) Feilmeier of Hartington, NE; two brothers-in-law, Clayton (Bette) Heimes of Wynot, NE and Charles Deist of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stillborn daughter.
