Alois "Louie" Novak
Alois "Louie" Novak, age 82, of Yankton, South Dakota was called home with tender mercy by the Heavenly Father on Friday, December 5, 2008 at Wakonda Heritage Manor in Wakonda, South Dakota.
Funeral services are 1:30 PM, on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend David Wildermuth officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Komstad Cemetery in rural Centerville, South Dakota. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service and video tribute at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers are Brad Cap, David Cap, Wayne Dullerud, Chuck Larson, Mark Logsdon, Scott Logsdon, Victor Novak and Larry Schwarz. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Novak, Kristen Schubert, Jennifer Novak, Alex Schubert, Amanda Hauck, Rosalyn Dullerud, DuWayne Kozak, Harold Logsdon and Nancy Robb.
Louie was born December 4, 1926 on the family farm in Yankton County to Charles H. and Marie (Kozak) Novak. He attended Peterka Grade School and then Yankton High School. He farmed with his dad and in January of 1951, Louie joined the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. On June 5, 1955, Louie married Jeanette Anderson in Beresford, South Dakota. Farming was Louie's life. Jeanette and he lived on the family farm for 52 years before moving into Yankton. Louie was also a member of the Farmer's Union, American Legion, the VFW and UCT.
Louie is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jeanette Novak of Yankton; three children: Steven (Nancy) Novak of Decatur, IL, Bernice Hauck of Tyndall and Irene (Kevin) Schubert of LaVista, NE; and five grandchildren: Brian and Jennifer Novak, Amanda Hauck, and Kristen and Alex Schubert.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents.
