Alice D. Neu

Alice D. Neu, age 97, of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10:30 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Monsignor Cyril Werner officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Thursday with a Vigil Service and video tribute at 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the Church.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Kast, Susan Yamada, Michael Kast, Bill Kast, Michael Neu, Patty Zavadil, John Neu, Paul Neu, Barbara Baier, Kristine Cornman, Amy Lesley, David Tramdachs, and John Tramdachs.

Alice Dorothy Neu was born on December 5, 1910 at Presho, SD to Charles and Kate (Kelley) Ford. Alice graduated from Gregory High School in Gregory, SD and attended State University at Springfield, SD. She taught elementary school at Burke and Gregory, South Dakota. Alice married John J. Neu Sr. on August 1, 1933 in Gregory, SD. She and John lived in Hartington all their married lives where they owned and operated the Hartington Creamery until 1966.

Alice was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by her three children and spouses, Jim and Judy Neu of Yankton, SD, Dorothy and Kenny Kast of Dakota Dunes, SD, and Marjorie Tramdachs of Omaha, NE; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; daughter Marilyn Bauer; three sisters, Leta Swenson, Edna Sperl, and Beryl O'Bryrn; one brother, Col. Clyde Ford; half brother, Clarence Ford; and son-in-law, Andris Tramdachs.
