Rudy was born on June 18, 1908 to Joseph H. and Catherine (Willembring) Lammers. He lived west of Hartington in the Lammers Ranch area all of his life where he farmed. Rudy's education was mostly at the Lammers Ranch School, a year in Fordyce to get a religious education so he could make his First Holy Communion. Rudy attended Trinity High School and an accounting school in Sioux City and proceeded on to Lincoln where he received his diploma in Auto and Tractor School in 1929. Throughout his school years, he received many awards for his meticulous penmanship and spelling. Rudy married Rose J. Arens on January 5, 1932 in Hartington. To this union, seven children were born. In March of 2004 Rudy became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Hartington.

Rudy was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a former trustee of the church. He also was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Farmers Union Coop in Hartington. Rudy enjoyed playing the violin and harmonica. He was an excellent herdsman, loved to hunt, and always kept busy on the farm. Rudy carried on the tradition of his father's apple orchard and his 3 sons continue this tradition today. He was "the patriarch" of his family, was a very kind man and always had a great sense of humor with a quick wink. God and family were Rudy's top priorities.

Rudy is survived by 7 children and their spouses, Cyril and Irene Lammers of Fordyce; Clair and Vivian Lammers of Fairbanks, Alaska; Vivian and Alburn Wiebelhaus of Aurora, Colorado; Angela and Armand Wiebelhaus of Yankton; Joan and Sam Brice of Fairbanks, Alaska; Jeanne and Don Schmidt of Crofton; Mark Lammers of Hartington; 36 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, a sister, Adeline Hansen of Houston, Texas; and a sister in law, Margaret Lammers of Hartington.
