Donald M. Lammers, age 89 of Hartington, NE, died on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance with the Rev. David Korth and Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Constance. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 2:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. A vigil service will be on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the church in Constance. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Tim Becker, Rob Sylliaasen, Troy Lammers, John Carter, Kyle Lammers, Garrett Lammers, Derek Lammers.

Donald Michael Lammers was born on February 12, 1920 in Hartington, NE to Adolph and Pauline M. (Schumacher) Lammers. He grew up on a farm west of Hartington and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Marie Gubbels on December 30, 1946 in Hartington. Don and Marie farmed west of Hartington and moved into town in 1992.

Donald was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance, the Catholic Order of Foresters, former parish council member and former NFO member, AMPI Member, and the Hartington VFW Post #5283. Don enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Hartington; 10 children and their spouses, Paula and Neil Becker of Omaha, NE, Connie and Gary Sylliaasen of Irene, SD, Steve and Janet Lammers of Hartington, Ken and Jo Lammers of Fargo, ND, Mary and Bill Carter of Omaha, NE, Ron Lammers of Mesa, Arizona, Terri Lammers of Yankton, SD, Bill and Terri Lammers of Topeka, KS, Ed and Michelle Lammers of Hartington, and Matt and Kendra Lammers of Downington, PA; 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Virgil Lammers, 1 sister, Wilma Pick.
