Arlene Gall
Arlene Gall, age 77, of Yankton, South Dakota died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with Father Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a Scripture service at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary.
Pallbearers are William Boese, Gene Novak, Chuck Turner, Bruce Cull, Dale Clark and Tim Turner. Honorary pallbearers are Amy Slethaug, Jennifer Cull, Sarah Clark, Brian Boese, Alyssa Boese and Katie Turner.
Arlene was born on October 4, 1931 in Alexandria, South Dakota to George and Frances (Laughlin) Bird. She attended grade school in Bridgewater, South Dakota. The family moved to Ramona, South Dakota where she graduated from high school. After high school, she settled in Yankton. On August 22, 1957, Arlene married James Gall. Arlene was a faithful employee at Gurney's Seed and Nursery for 40 years, retiring in 1996. Arlene and James raised three children and loved taking family trips to the mountains and the ocean. She treasured the time with her family and was always looking forward to the next holiday when they could all be together. Arlene also enjoyed her flowers, playing cards, cooking and watching birds.
Arlene is survived by her husband, James Gall of Yankton; 3 daughters: Valerie (William) Boese of Dixon, NE, Patricia (Gene) Novak of Gilbert, AZ and Susan (Chuck) Turner of Pueblo West, CO; 7 grandchildren: Alyssa and Brian Boese, Jennifer (Bruce) Cull, Amy (Gavin) Slethaug, Sarah (Dale) Clark, Tim and Katie Turner; 4 great grandchildren: Elliot Cull, Gabrielle Keiser, Samuel Clark and Mathias Slethaug; brother, Donald Bird of Madison, SD; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rose Melick.
